History of Filariasis Prevalence
|
Surveys from 1945 to 1965 report wide distribution of microfilarial cases but patchy distribution. In 1965 elephantiasis was observed in 0.8% of subjects in the Guadalcanal coastal areas, though none in the bush; and 3% of people on Florida island. The national malaria eradication programme, 1960-1975, was reported by Webber (1975) to have eradicated filariasis from the country.
