History of Filariasis Prevalence
|
Many surveys have been carried out in this country during the last century showing microfilarial presence to be very high in some areas while absent in others. Cases of elephantiasis of the arms, legs and scrotum were observed in a 1913 survey and further sightings of clinical cases were reported in two different surveys conducted in 1950. Four MDAs have been carried out since 1987 in various parts of the country.
