History of Filariasis Prevalence

Bray (1931) conducted a survey of the whole population except infants, numbering 1,151. Elephantiasis cases were found to be rare. Six people had mild affections of legs, six males were found with scrotal involvement and two women with breast lesions. Two years later a survey was conducted by Grant in all the country districts. Twenty-one cases of elephantiasis of the legs or scrotum were found out of a total population of 1,500. No hydrocele cases were found.
