After a series of meetings and tele-conferences by the GAELF4 Secretariat, the Local Organizing Committee and the Executive Group, a decision has been reached on the following:

The dates for the 4th meeting of the Global Alliance for the Elimination of Lymphatic Filariasis (GAELF4) are now scheduled for Wednesday, March 29th through to Friday, 31st March, 2006. Please diarize these dates now. |

The venue of the meeting is the Tanoa International, situated only minutes away from Nadi International Airport. Accommodation will be available at this hotel as well as the Mercure and the Fiji Mocambo. |

The theme for the meeting is “Towards the Global Elimination of Lymphatic Filariasis - Successes & Challenges”. |
The planning and implementation of the meeting is in the hands of the CEO of Fiji’s Ministry of Health, Dr. Lepani Waqatakirewa, Chairman of the Local Organizing Committee (LOC) and members include Dr. Ken Chen, WHO Representative in the Pacific; Dr Kazuyo Ichimori, PacELF Team Leader and Dr. Josefa Koroivueta, President of the Global Alliance and Chairman of PacCARE.
Secretariat Support staff include Mr Sitiveni Yaqona, Project Coordinator; Ms Sera Kogure Vada, Executive Assistant and Mrs Maca Colata, PacELF Secretariat.
This update is the first of a series, which will be sent to keep you abreast of what the LOC is planning for our meeting in 2006. Details of registration, accommodation and visa arrangements will be sent to you in due course.
